The driver escaped unscathed after she ploughed through railings and plunged several feet into a gap between the pavement and a house in Lemon St, Truro.

She said: 'There was someone quite close behind me and I was focusing on that,
looking in the rear-view mirror and thinking, "back off".

'It's all a bit blurry because it happened so quickly. When the car stopped I just sat there thinking, "Oh no" - or something not quite that polite.'
