Sarah Jessica Parker Out At Halston Heritage

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker is out at Halston Heritage.

Jessica Parker had been named the president and CEO of Halston Heritage, the luxury fashion house’s secondary line, told Vogue that her relationship with the company had come to an end.

Movie magnate Harvey Weinstein had chosen the 'Sex and the City' star for the role when he and a partner company Hilco acquired the brand in 2007. Weinstein is also rumored to be exiting the company as well.

Sarah Jessica Parker had been a surprising choice for the role, the star herself admitted that she had no real experience.

She told Women’s Wear Daily when she came on board, you could make many arguments as to why I am not qualified. I know I come to the company in a rather unorthodox way, but I’m not the first to be president of a company without the traditional background.

The actress made many public appearances in Halston Heritage clothing but there were rumors of a clash in ideology between what Parker wanted the clothing to look like and the brand’s traditions. The line was founded by the designer Roy Halston Frowick, who became world famous for his pioneering designs.

Halston designed the pillbox hat that Jackie Kennedy wore to the 1961 inauguration of her husband, President John F. Kennedy. In the 1970s, Halston's long gowns defined glamour. He was the designer of choice for stars including Bianca Jagger, Lauren Hutton and Elizabeth Taylor.

He died in 1990 from complications of lung cancer and HIV. Since his death, the company has gone through the hands of many different owners who have attempted to keep the brand vital.

Halston Heritage did well last year. But was it Sarah Jessica Parker’s doing or was it the fact that the fans just loved the clothing?
